BE A PART OF HISTORY!!!!!

January 18, 2011

American’s are celebrating MLK day, which i think is a day that we should do internationally, its a day where we remember a special man who made HISTORY !!!!!!!!
If you dont know about Martin here is a summery of what he did for all people and why he made history!!!!
Martin Luther King, Jr. was known for being an iconic figure in the advancement of civil rights in the United States and around the world, using nonviolent methods following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. King is often presented as a heroic leader in the history of modern American liberalism.
In 1963 March in Washington there King delivered his most iconic speak to this date “I Have a Dream”. There, he expanded American values to include the vision of a color blind society, and established his reputation as one of the greatest orators in American history. He also became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other nonviolent means. This is only a small part of what Martin did for all people!!!!!

Martin is like you and I, human.
He has shown us, like many others, that if you have a focus, and want to make a change and believe in yourself that you too, can do it. As long as you believe in your self, you can achieve greatness!!!!!

Here are his most memorable quotes!!!!!!!!

1. ‘Hate cannot drive out hate’
‘Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars…. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.’

2.’The ultimate measure of a man’
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” –Strength to Love

3.’The final word’
“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”

4.’Hatred paralyzes life’
“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”

5.’Let no man pull you low…’
“Let no man pull you low enough to hate him.”

6.’Injustice anywhere…’
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

7.’Highest respect for the law’
“I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.”

8.’Something he will die for…’
“I submit to you that if a man hasn’t discovered something he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.”

9.’Brothers’
“The good neighbor looks beyond the external accidents and discerns those inner qualities that make all men human and, therefore, brothers.”

10.’Cruel irony’
“We have been repeatedly faced with a cruel irony of watching Negro and white boys on TV screens as they kill and die together for a nation that has been unable to seat them together in the same school room.”
