10 Tips For Healthy Teeth and Gums

Every smart girl knows that great health takes brains…there is a lot to learn in life when it comes to taking care of yourself, eating the right foods, excercise, skin care etc and we will try and help you make the right decisions along the way. Today we are on the subject of maintaining healthy teeth and gums to help you keep your beautiful smile.

1. Drink lots of water. At least 2 liters are recommended unless you have any medical constraints.
2. Do not consume frozen food or cold fluids immediately after hot food.
3. Try and wash your mouth after every meal. If you do not have a tooth brush handy you can use your index or middle finger ( wash first) to massage the teeth and clear any remnants of food in mouth and try to you use mouth wash at least once a day after brushing.
4. Avoid consumption (or at least less) of soft or rubbery foods like chocolates, Sweets, chewing gum etc and if you get a tooth ache go to the dentist immediately for a check up dont wait for the problem to get worse.
5. Develop a habit of cleaning your teeth and gum with your tongue every now and then during the day. Imagine as if the tongue is a broom.
6. Needless to say, cleaning of teeth twice a day is a must. At least once a day is inexcusable.
7. The best way to clean teeth is by using any fine tooth powder ask at your local chemist. Most tooth-pastes are marketing gimmicks focusing more on flavor and color than dental health.
8. Ensure that the first thing you do after waking up in morning is to rinse your mouth and consume at least a litre of lukewarm water slowly.
9. Avoid dental-cleaning and whitening treatments they are painful and heavy on your teeth and are not a good as regulary looking after your teeth rather then thinking the dentist will tske care of what you don’t.
10) Make sure you select soft tooth brushes, hard bristles can be too coarse for your gums and may do more harm in the long run and flossing is still a must to clean in between teeth which a tootch brush cant.
